It started with a New Year’s Resolution

I have never been one for making New Year’s Resolutions. But 2026 is an exception.

In January I dug out my old DSLR and decided to start taking photographs again, after years of using my iPhone for taking snaps. I had been on a few overseas trips where I missed having a “proper” camera, so I thought it made sense to use what I had gathering dust on a shelf.

No big plan, just relearn how to use a proper camera and get outside. If nothing else, the exercise would do me good. So I dusted off my Canon 5D Mk III, charged a couple of batteries, formatted a couple of cards and went for a long walk.
